Welcome to the international Friendship Camp on 7.-13.7.!
We are
happy that you are participating in the Pioneer s’ summer camp in Juupajoki and joining our multicultural gang. This post has the information about,
accommodation, transportation and more. A more detailed orientation will take
place in the camp itself. Welcome on board!
What is the
friendship camp?
The
international Friendship Camp is the biannual summer event of the Democratic Union
of Finnish Pioneers. The camp brings together campers, volunteers, leaders and
staff, for a total of 80 people. Campers fall between 6-17 years of age, though
the majority are teenagers. In addition there are a few under 3-year-olds.
The main
camp program consist of various workshops: The camp workshops focus on media, culture,
music and the arts. The camp working language is English, but interpreters are
also available. Our sister organizations are sending young people from the Czech
Republic and Germany. The camp also has international helpers via the Allianssi
youth exchange.
Accommodation
and food
Guests stay
in the camping center’s rooms, 2-6 persons per room. Tent accommodation
outdoors is also possible. The camp center has running water, internet, indoor
restrooms and showers. Sammalniemi is located on the shore of a lake, so there
will be able to swim, use the sauna and row.
Food will
be served four times a day (breakfast, lunch, dinner and supper). In addition, fruits
and juice will be available for snacks.
What to
pack?
- Practical
and comfortable clothes that can get wet or dirty
- Warm
clothes in case of bad weather
- Bathing
suit and towel
- Rubber
boots or other waterproof shoes
- If
possible, a sleeping bag or bed linens (sheets, pillowcases and duvet cover)
- Personal
hygiene items
- Personal
medication
- Mosquito
repellents!
- European
Health Insurance Card (if possible)
The participants will be covered by the Pioneers’ insurance policy. The camp is alcohol-free and drug-free.
We adhere to the Finnish law. Adults are allowed to smoke in a separate smoking
area.
